Practice makes perfect!
Give your child as much practice counting coins as possible. Have them go to stores with you and add the change of something they want. Have them count the change of the things they have put on their wish list for the holidays. If they need help it is ok to guide them.
Use real coins
Children have an easier time making connections when the coins are real. When they are needed help with homework, take out some real coins.
Help your child count by 5 10, and 25 all the way up to 100
This will help your students count the coins. If you count by these numbers at your free time it will become routine for your child. Count when your in the car, getting ready for school, washing dishes, or any other free time!
Start a coin collection for your child
Collect all your spare change and find a container to put them in. Each week have your child put all the spare change they find in there and count it by the end of the week. Set a goal so your child will be excited when they start getting close.
